An important message for Kingbrook customers:
Due to the severity and duration of the subzero temperatures this winter, we are experiencing service line and mainline freeze ups due to an extremely low frost line. Service lines and smaller mainlines are more susceptible to freezing up when there is little or no water usage by the home owner throughout the day.
We are asking you to determine the temperature of your water coming out of your tap. This can be done by using a meat thermometer or something similar. Open up your kitchen cold water tap and let it run for 2 minutes and then take the temperature. Then let the cold water run for another 10 minutes and take the temperature. If the temperature is at 35 degrees or below, please call our office between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, so we can send a field operator to get water running in your area so the pipeline does not freeze up completely.
As we all know, the frost will go deeper as the temperatures begin to rise. Continue to monitor your water temperature until the weather warms up. If you experience water temps at 35 degrees or below on the weekend, please open up a faucet and let water run continually at a rate the size of a pencil to prevent your water line from freezing up and then give our office a call the next business day.
If you have any questions, please call us at 605-983-5074. Thank you!
